We're excited to partner with Wyoming Game and Fish to convert boundary fences to wildlife friendly designs! Volunteers will remove up to 1 mile of 4 wire barbed fence, and the new fence design will accommodate wildlife passage, yet still allow for containment of livestock.
The 634 acre Terry Creek Ranch (Al and Barb Johnson) will be permanently protected against future subdivision and development through a conservation easement held by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation! The property provides a key link between Sheep Mountain and the Snowy Range portions of the USFS. This property had high development potential for numerous cabins or ranchettes, and if subdivided, would have had major negative impacts to migratory big game species. Mule deer, elk, and pronghorn utilize USFS and Terry Creek Ranch lands in the area, as well as moose, black bear, mountain lion, and many non-game species of wildlife. Conversion of fences will allow for much easier passage of big game animals as they migrate to/from Sheep Mountain in Fall and Spring, coming to/from their crucial winter ranges. G&F completed a similar fence conversion in 2020, and the results have been simply amazing!
